What it really takes to transform your life

As we get closer to the end of this year,… the end of this decade, I look back over the last ten years and reflect on how far I’ve come, and  how my life has literally transformed into a life I truly LOVE!

It’s been over ten years since I walked away from a 25-year marriage, a lucrative business, a beautiful home, and all the dreams plans I had made for our future.

I understand what it feels like to have your world turned upside down, and to have your dreams crushed.

Luckily for me this was also the time that “self-help” and “self-improvement” books were abundant in the bookstores.  I LOVE to read so I was never short of books and guides for self-reflection and self-transformation.

As I set out to change my life, I started with my health and my weight.  I had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic and I was struggling with depression. So, it was a priority for me to take care of my health and well-being first.

In the process of working on my health and well-being, I was also working on me, the inner self. Coaching myself through my own transformation, uncovering who I was, moving forward with a strong commitment to change my life. I can’t honestly say it wasn’t easy, but I can also say it was absolutely necessary and so worth it! 

If you are going through a major challenge, or you are just ready to up  level your life in 2020, here are 4 actionable steps you can start with right away.

Get To Know Yourself

Have you ever asked yourself, “Who am I?” Not your name, or your job title. Who are you really?  What’s your story? What drives you? What are your values?  What are your desires?

Yes, these are deep questions that need to be answered. There is often a tendency to believe who others tell us we are, and this can often limit us and our ability to move forward.

Spend some time finding out who you really are.
Set aside time each morning for self reflection and journaling. Choose something that you can be consistent with. 

For me, developing a consistent meditation practice and journaling has been life changing.
 
Shift Your Personal Perspective. Rewrite Your Story.

Transforming your life begins from within, and results in significant changes in you and in your life. It is about becoming aware of the thoughts you think and how you think.
Check in with yourself. Is it mostly positive or mostly negative?
How you feel when you think a thought is a great indicator.

It also involves changing your perspective and acting from a new, and more empowering perspective. It’s about going beyond the way you currently live, and co-creating a better life for yourself. You do this by using a combination of your thoughts, words, visualization, faith, and actions.
 
Develop a Strategic Plan For Your Life.

A strategic plan outlines where you are now, where you want to go, and how you intend to get there. It includes things like your story, your mission, your vision, and your big goals for the key areas of your life, career, business, health and well-being, wealth, spiritual life, your relationship with God, Source, The Universe, whichever it is for you, and your relationship with others.

Write down your plan, get an accountability partner who is on the same journey, or a coach (if you want to accelerate your growth…it doesn’t have to take 10 years ), and take ACTION. The sooner you start, the better.

Commit To The Process.

What’s important to realize is that transformation is an ongoing process that does take time and commitment. It’s a dedication to new ways of doing things. It’s about growing, expanding and becoming a better version of yourself.

We are all a work in progress. So, remember every step you take in the right direction will move you closer to your destination.
Plan to have a life full of the DESIRES of your HEART, and most of all, be GRATEFUL and ENJOY  life.
